Born
in Cuneo, Italy, in 1982, Davide Arneodo studied violin
at the Torino School of Music in which he also dedicated
himself to piano, alto, chamber music, orchestra and electronic music,
while, at the same time, active in the alternative Piedmontese
folk and rock scene, playing in bands like SURISCOT
TRIO, A FIL DE CIEL and INSTRUMENTAL QUARTER. He started
to collaborate on different projects and, in 2002, met
Vittorio de Scalzi (NEW TROLLS) with whom he played
for over two years in Concerto Grosso Live.
After playing all over Italy, Europe and USA, the desire for a personal project led him
to start to work on compositions that filtered all these
experiences and which, at the same time, were not influenced
by them and did not belong to a specific genre or definition.
Silvio Pautasso, captured by this style, invited him
to compose the soundtrack to an Italian cartoon and
so, encouraged by this proposal, he also set a short
film to music, playing it with an ensemble he created
in a concert in Aosta.
Soon came the need to record the songs and so he started
to work in the recording studios with MARTA MATTALIA,
the voice and poetic soul of the project, inviting internationally-renowned
guests like RICCARDO TESI and FEDERICO SANESI.
The music that emerges from these years of work is reflected
in compositions in which we can hear folk echoes, minimal
music, progressive influences, post rock, all based
on unusual rhythmic and timbre combinations, performed
with every kind of instrument such piano, electric guitar,
violin, percussions, toy instruments, all played by
a single musician and used as different colours to paint
a canvas belonging to a private world...or to an old
8mm film.
VOV was born.
In 2007 he worked with L'AURA (keyboards, toy instruments and violin on the last album Demian) and IG, the project by GIANNI MAROCCOLO and IVANA GATTI.
He's at present playing with MARLENE KUNTZ.
